Did you know that areas in Kingswood have been part of the pilot for an exciting project called Greenprint? Last year, Greenprint collected 377 tonnes of grass from across 36 hectares of Council maintained grassland in South Gloucestershire – equivalent to over 50 football pitches!
Collecting the grass cuttings, rather than leaving them on the ground as traditionally done, has had several benefits:
1)Reduced carbon emissions from decomposing cuttings
2)Increased carbon capture within the soil
3) Enhanced the biodiversity of the verges and green spaces
You can find out more about how the project uses the grass clippings in the video here.
